One
challenge all IVD makers face is ensuring that limited
package size does not hinder compliance with the labeling
directive. "There is no single correct or right
strategy," [ForeignExchange's president] Heuberger
said. "It's important for you to figure out what's

Some
38% of IVD manufacturers who responded to a fourth-quarter
2002 survey on their readiness for the full implementation
of the IVD Directive on December 7, 2003 have revealed

Creating
an international website: make the site fit the country
The
Specialty Equipment Market Association's member magazine
observes that while most of us are comfortable bandying
about catch phrases such as 'international marketplace'
and 'global economy', only a handful of e-commerce
sites are actually global. "The best advice is
that unless you’re a multilingual expert familiar
with all the globe’s cultures, becoming informed about
localization and seriously considering the hiring
of a localization service makes a world of sense."

The
multilingual web
Building and managing a global website is a complex
task: juggling the needs of the marketing, IT, regulatory
and sales departments and communicating with in-country
offices is difficult enough. When you add vendors,
software tools and the regulatory requirements of
each country to the mix, the process can be overwhelming.
Nevertheless, companies with global ambitions have
little choice but to adapt their websites to local
users. The key to successfully managing this process
resides in knowing the obstacles to avoid and the
tools that are available to help you achieve your
objectives.
